Massage Therapy Relieves Stress

Massage therapy relieves stress AMTA

Studies have proven that Massage Therapy relieves stress. When was your last massage therapy treatment session? While the weight of worldwide crises constantly pounds away on our nervous systems, we can also end up feeling helpless in many of these areas and this stress continues to build up. Just getting through the day can be a real challenge. We also still need to take care of our families and children, parents, work, relationships, and our somewhat normal routine. Sometimes simply getting through the day is the best one can do. To get through the day and climb into bed exhausted hoping that tomorrow won’t be as stressful. And it’s okay. It’s not easy to deal with external circumstances that not only happen in our daily lives but those we are also inundated with on a daily basis from worldwide havoc. All of this pressure and stress combined together create chaos in our minds overloading our nervous systems;  creating anxiety and also feelings of hopelessness and depression.

The AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association)
According to the AMTA studies, massage therapy relieves stress. Massage is a means where stress is reduced significantly on not only physical levels but also on psychological levels. There is a considerable amount of research that has been done and they show that stress absolutely affects an individual’s well-being and health. It’s stimulation overload!

Trigger Point Massage Therapy
The studies have shown the effects of Trigger Point Massage Therapy resulting in a decrease in systolic blood pressure, and diastolic blood pressure, and a significant decrease in heart rate. Also, the “measures of oxygen consumption, blood pressure, and salivary cortisol levels were all lower after a 10 to 15-minute chair massage.’ Think how a one-hour Trigger Point massage will affect your mind and body!

Quoting the AMTA,
Massage Therapy to relieve stress shows “Changes in psychological states have been measured by physiological responses1, 3, the Perceived Stress Scale5, the POMS Depression Scale4,6, and the Anxiety State Scale4.” You can discover for yourself the studies and subjects in the massage group on their website under massage-therapy-can-relieve-stress, and how every single one of the subjects showed significant changes in stress levels and emotional states.”

Remember to BREATHE and Drink plenty of water
When we feel anxious or traumatized we tend to hold our breath, or breath very shallowly.
Remember to take deep breaths into the bottom of your lungs throughout the day. Drink plenty of fresh water and prepare healthy food for yourself. Sugar overloads will not help any psychological or physical state of being.
