Allowing Authenticity in You and Others

Allowing authenticity in ourselves can teach us to practice allowing authenticity in others. Allowing authenticity can bring us freedom and joy! Each of us is unique. There is not another personAuthenticity on this planet that is exactly like us.  We all have an individual energy signature and every single cell holds all of the information of who we have ever been, which includes our unique thoughts, feelings, and desires that are manifested from wavelengths into particles (form) that creates our individual human experience.
Each person comes in with a unique essence that is embedded in this human experience; an energetic signature that also holds our sense of purpose, thoughts, feelings, and desires, which unfolds in accordance to our own unique role that plays out through our choices, (thinking, feeling, doing) whether they be conscious or not.

Why is Allowing Authenticity a Challenge?

What has formed us to be who we are today? To discover this, we must look to our past cycles and environments. From the conceptual thoughts that our parents have once they realize they are going to be having a baby, they begin to plan their child’s life and how they want this child to learn, grow, be and live.  We come from a world where our society depicts how we socialize in our environment which can impede a child from unfolding in a natural way. Am I saying parents are terrible? No! Parents do the best they can for who they are in accordance with their own programming from their parents, teachers, society, and environments.
Our parents and role models teach that certain things are not acceptable and we are taught if we exhibit those certain behaviors that we will not be accepted. This can create vulnerability, which then creates an unsafe feeling inside. So, we hide away what we think others will not accept about us, and create personalities that are acceptable so we can feel loved and part of the clan. It’s a very old embedded aspect of survival. For our ancestors, being alone meant death.

Fragmented Personalities

Fragmentation occurs on the unconscious and subconscious levels. We create different personalities (parts of ourselves) so that we feel comfortable in different situations. For example, we dress and act a certain way on a first date, or while we are at work we act and look a different way. 99% of the thoughts we thought today are the same thoughts as the day before, repeating patterns of thoughts, feelings, and actions. When we have thoughts that are not in alignment with the “good” we suppress them. Eventually, they will come out due to the pressure they create from being stagnant, which can be emotional outbursts or illness. Just like the aspects that have been hidden that come out to play when people move in together, eventually, all will come to the surface with enough pressure.
Ityin-yang is natural to have opposing thoughts. It is when we are unconscious that we follow through in action on a lower vibrational thought. There is not a soul on this planet that does not have “good” and “bad” or, opposing thoughts. It is natural; it is polarity.

What this means is that we are not aware inside ourselves and of the connections that have developed in the neural pathways in our brain. What we suppress becomes deeply buried, whether it be a trauma or what we feel the world would ‘disapprove’ of.  Allowing authenticity is challenging as hiding these parts of ourselves simply does not allow us to know what true authenticity really is. How can we call ourselves authentic when we copy others? We have essentially become copies of other people. Allowing authenticity can only be obtained by the awareness of ourselves at our core; by bringing our focus inside ourselves. Most of us have simply not been taught to see ourselves as our general focus has been outside ourselves. There is no judgment. It is part of our global path of evolution.

How well do you know yourself?

Depending on the degree that one is currently aware of themselves is generally the same degree that we are conscious of our authenticity. The fact that we feel so many parts of ourselvesknow-yourself are not “perfect” enough that we have rejected and denied them, and are now buried in our subconscious, speaks to the fact that we simply do not have much awareness of our authentic selves.
Most of our focus is on the outside, not the inside.  When we take the time to focus on the inside, on our own true essence that lies in the core of our being, we can begin allowing authenticity. Becoming authentic is the same process of what is called “awakening”. It is discovering your true essence. I can think of one very authentic person; “His Holiness the Dali Lama. He is always the same person, whether he is with a common person or the Pope”. (Eckhart Tolle)

Allowing Authenticity… How do we do this?

Authenticity is when we are coherent with the outside and inside of ourselves. Where the inside is reflected on the outside and is matching in vibration. One must allow the melding of aspects of the self together to be authentic. Of course, the step before this would be to come clean with yourself and admit there are incongruences between the inner and outer selves. Denial may be the first trigger that arises, and you will want to watch out for this.
Be willing to take a clear look at yourself and others. We have been shamed into not being ourselves, and many spend their lives in avoidance and denial, and, actually, these two aspects are the opposite of acceptance. Acceptance will create change in a positive way.

It can also be terrifying to be authentic because we fear what will happen if we are.
Being vulnerable is the key to our hearts remaining open. We certainly are not used to allowing that, allow-vunerabilitybecause that is Way Too Scary! We feel unsafe. But are we really unsafe?
This is also not about being defensive. It’s about being open and expressing your truth instead of only parts of your truth.
Remember, any time that we are in an emotional discussion it is important to choose how to respond rather than having a reaction. Our emotions will tell us a lot about ourselves and are key to discovering our subconscious programming that prevents allowing authenticity. As a suggestion, practice becoming aware of your thoughts and question them. Thoughts create our emotions. Why do I think the way I do? Continue this process over and over and discover why you think the way you do. Go back in time; discover WHY.

Notice when you alter your behavior, or how you change or feel when you think you are being watched.  Unless you can admit to yourself what you really think and feel, want, and see what your actions are your not going to get very far in allowing authenticity. Discover your own unique essence within. Whatever you can do that makes you more self-aware, be it meditation, yoga, chanting, writing, videoing yourself, healing therapy, or simply bringing your focus inside yourself will Happy-babytake you in the direction of allowing authenticity. When we stop trying to mold ourselves to be like others and begin to express our true essence is where we will discover our highest state of being.

Allowing Authenticity = Enlightenment. Enlightenment = Freedom. Freedom = Joy!
